Sit-in Over Alleged Enforced Disappearances in Kech Balochistan Enters Third Day

Dec 26, 2025 | Current Affairs

Gwadar, December 26, 2025 – Protesters in the Tajban area of Kech district continued their sit-in for the third consecutive day on Thursday, blocking the vital CPEC Highway to demand the recovery of four family members — including two women — allegedly subjected to enforced disappearance. Family members and supporters vowed not to clear the road until the missing persons are safely returned.
The blockade has left hundreds of vehicles stranded, disrupting travel and causing considerable inconvenience to the public.

Key Highlights

  • Protest centers on alleged forced disappearance of four individuals, identified as Khairun Nisa, Hani Dilwash, and two others from the same family
  • Demonstrators claim the four were taken from their homes three days ago
  • Hundreds of trucks, cars, and other vehicles stuck on both sides of the highway
  • Protesters reject calls to end blockade, insisting on recovery first
  • Local administration and elders held talks but failed to persuade demonstrators
  • Family members express concern over unsubstantiated social media accusations against the missing

Ongoing Standoff

The sit-in began after reports that security personnel forcibly removed the individuals from their residences. Protesters, gathered in large numbers, have maintained a firm stance — enduring the blockade’s hardships while highlighting their anguish.
“We have been sitting on the highway for the last three days, but our family members have not been recovered so far,” relatives told reporters. They added that baseless allegations circulating online have only deepened their worry, with no information on the whereabouts of the missing.
Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Hanif Kabzai, accompanied by local elders, engaged in dialogue to resolve the impasse and restore traffic flow. However, the demonstrators remained resolute, prioritizing the safe return of their loved ones.
Authorities continue efforts to address the situation peacefully, as the protest underscores deep concerns over missing persons cases in the region.
Such demonstrations reflect the community’s demand for transparency and justice, while officials work toward a resolution that upholds public order and individual rights.
