RAWALPINDI, Sept 12 — Security forces have killed at least 23 terrorists in multiple counterterrorism operations across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and Balochistan this week, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed Friday. Seven soldiers embraced martyrdom in a separate terrorist attack in Lower Dir.

Khawarij eliminated in K-P
- ISPR said 19 terrorists of Indian-sponsored Fitna al Khawarij were killed in three operations in Mohmand, North Waziristan, and Bannu between Sept 9–10.
- In Mohmand’s Guluno area, 14 terrorists were neutralized during an intense exchange of fire.
- Four more were killed in North Waziristan’s Datta Khel and one in Bannu.
- Security forces also seized weapons and ammunition. Sanitisation operations are underway.
Lower Dir attack
- Terrorists ambushed security forces in Sar Banda, Lower Dir, leaving seven personnel martyred and 13 injured.
- The clash took place within Lal Qila Police Station limits. TTP claimed responsibility, though the claim remains unverified.
- Authorities have banned the use of drones, quadcopters, and balloons in the district.
- Police also repelled a separate attack on Lajbok police post without casualties.
CTD operation in Balochistan
- The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) killed four terrorists in an intelligence-based operation in Pishin district.
- Officials said the group was planning attacks but timely action foiled their designs. Explosives and weapons were recovered.
Leaders praise security forces
- President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the successful operations, reaffirming Pakistan’s resolve to defeat terrorism.
- PM Shehbaz stressed that the “war against terrorism will continue until the scourge is eradicated.”
- Balochistan CM Sarfraz Bugti lauded CTD’s bravery, saying their action averted a “potential tragedy.”
