Lahore: November 19, 2025 – In a significant move against the banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), the Punjab government has constituted 12 Joint Investigation Teams (JITs) to thoroughly probe multiple cases registered in Lahore and Sheikhupura districts.
The Punjab Home Department issued notifications – 11 dated November 6 and one on October 31 – forming these specialised teams under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997.
Five JITs have been tasked with investigating cases in Sheikhupura, including four in Muridke and one in Ferozewala. Meanwhile, seven JITs will handle cases in Lahore’s Nawankot (three), Shahdara Town (three), and Ravi Road (one) areas.
Each JIT includes senior police officers, CTD representatives, and investigating officers to ensure transparent and swift probes.
The development follows the federal government’s ban on TLP after violent clashes in Muridke last month during the party’s protest march in support of Palestine.
The Punjab government ordered the formation of five JITs under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997 in the Sheikhupura district.

Authorities allege TLP workers attacked law enforcement personnel, prompting the Punjab government to request the ban, citing the group’s involvement in terrorism and violence.
The crackdown continues with over 1,250 TLP workers and financiers arrested in Lahore alone. Assets worth Rs23.4 billion and 92 bank accounts linked to the organisation have been frozen.TLP chief Saad Rizvi and his brother Anas Rizvi remain at large despite being placed on the PNIL and wanted in over 100 FIRs.
Police operations, backed by geofencing data, are intensifying across the province as part of the ongoing action against the proscribed outfit.
