LAKKI MARWAT: A soldier was injured Monday when terrorists ambushed a security forces vehicle on a link road in Domel town of Bannu district, prompting a swift response from law-enforcement agencies.
A police official confirmed that the injured soldier was transported to the Combined Military Hospital in Bannu cantonment for treatment. According to authorities, security forces retaliated immediately, leading to a gun battle with the attackers. Reinforcements were dispatched under the directives of Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sajjad Khan and District Police Officer (DPO) Yasir Afridi to contain the situation. The joint operation by police and security personnel reportedly resulted in several terrorists being killed or injured.
In parallel, police increased security measures in Lakki Marwat after receiving intelligence that armed individuals were attempting to enter the city from the Peerwala Morr area. DPO Nazir Khan ordered enhanced patrolling, tighter monitoring at city entry and exit points, and vigilance over suspected persons. Residents were urged to cooperate with authorities and report any suspicious activity.

Meanwhile, local elders of Poindakhel, Domel, convened a jirga at Mamandi Dogar on Tuesday to discuss security concerns. Security agencies directed the Mamandkhel and Mamashkhel tribes to clear orchards along the road and refrain from constructing double-storey buildings, citing repeated attacks on security forces originating from these areas. The jirga rejected the orders, emphasizing that orchards are a vital source of income and demolishing structures would cause economic hardship.

Village council chairman Khadri Mamandkhel Masoom Wazir and elder Malik Ameer Feroz stressed that while they supported action against anti-state elements, essential services like electricity and water should be restored.
RPO Sajjad Khan reaffirmed that security forces would continue operations against terrorists and collaborate with local communities to ensure lasting peace. “Our goal is to establish a secure environment for citizens, and their cooperation is essential. The area will not be left at the mercy of terrorists,” he stated.
