Security Forces Kill 12 Terrorists in Kalat IBO: ISPR

Dec 8, 2025 | Terrorism

Security forces killed 12 terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Balochistan’s Kalat district, the military’s media wing said on Sunday. According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was conducted on Saturday following reports of the presence of militants linked to “Fitna-al-Hindustan”, a term used by the state for Balochistan-based groups allegedly supported by India.

The ISPR said troops engaged the suspects’ location after confirming their presence, triggering an intense exchange of fire. “Twelve Indian-sponsored terrorists were sent to hell,” the statement said, adding that weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the site. The militants were described as being involved in multiple terrorist attacks across the region.

Security forces have now launched a sanitisation process in the surrounding area to locate any remaining militants, the ISPR added. It said the operation was part of a broader counterterrorism campaign under the “Azm-i-Istehkam” framework approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan. The military vowed that operations would continue at full pace to eliminate what it described as foreign-sponsored terrorism from Pakistan.

Pakistan has seen a rise in militant activity, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following the breakdown of a ceasefire between the government and the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in November 2022. Yesterday, the ISPR reported that 14 militants were killed in three separate IBOs in KP’s Lakki Marwat district and Balochistan’s Tank area. Earlier in the week, seven terrorists were killed in two operations in North Waziristan.

Leadership Praises Security Forces

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the forces for their successful operation in Kalat, according to state-run Radio Pakistan.

President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s capability to confront any threat, saying the state was “fully capable of taking enemies of peace to their end at all costs.” He added that the “resolve of the nation will foil every conspiracy of Fitna al Hindustan.”

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also lauded the military, stating that security forces were “achieving great successes against terrorism under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam.” He said the nation stood united against terrorism and remained committed to completely eradicating the threat in all its forms.

The developments come amid ongoing nationwide counterterrorism efforts aimed at stabilising regions affected by insurgency and cross-border militancy.
