August 29, 2025 — The Pakistan Army has taken a leading role in ongoing rescue and relief operations in Punjab’s flood-affected districts, working in close coordination with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

Key Rescue Operations
- Evacuations: Troops are relocating stranded families using boats and helicopters. Women, children, and the elderly have been rescued from cut-off villages in Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, and Head Khanki.
- Kartarpur Gurdwara: Over 100 pilgrims and staff were safely rescued from the Kartarpur complex following rising floodwaters.
Relief and Support Measures
- Relief Camps: Multiple camps have been established to provide food, shelter, and medical assistance.
- Engineering Assistance: Army engineering units are reinforcing embankments and repairing routes to prevent further damage and maintain access to remote areas.
- Aviation Support: Army helicopters are conducting aerial surveys, transporting relief supplies, and rescuing people from areas inaccessible by road.

The Army’s operations are part of a comprehensive national response, with the NDMA issuing early flood warnings and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz formally requesting military support. Officials credit the timely coordination between military and civilian institutions with saving countless lives during this crisis.
