ISLAMABAD – Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu reached Islamabad today (Monday) for a two-day official visit from September 8–9, the Foreign Office confirmed.

He is leading a 13-member high-level delegation, which also includes the Kazakh Minister of Transport, underscoring a strong emphasis on connectivity and logistics.

The visit comes as an important step ahead of the Kazakh President’s state visit to Pakistan in November 2025, which is expected to mark a new chapter in bilateral ties.

During his stay, Nurtleu will hold a one-on-one meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, followed by delegation-level talks. He will also call on President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

On the sidelines, joint working groups on agriculture and information technology are scheduled to meet, with both sides keen on exploring new avenues of cooperation in these fields.

According to the FO, the discussions will center on preparations for the presidential visit and will touch upon the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation. Particular emphasis will be placed on trade and investment, agriculture, education, cultural and tourism exchanges, regional connectivity, and collaboration at multilateral forums such as the SCO and OIC.

Pakistan views Central Asia as a vital partner for its regional connectivity vision, especially under CPEC, which could provide landlocked Kazakhstan access to ports on the Arabian Sea.

The FO expressed confidence that this visit would further cement Pakistan-Kazakhstan relations and expand cooperation for the benefit of both nations.
