President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday paid rich tributes to the Pakistan Navy, calling it a symbol of courage, professionalism, and national pride.

In their Navy Day messages, both leaders recalled how the force stood tall during wars with India, particularly Operation Somnath in 1965, when Pakistani sailors struck deep into enemy waters and wrote a golden chapter of history.

President Zardari said the day was a moment to honor the martyrs and salute the steadfastness of the ghazis whose sacrifices continue to inspire the nation. “Their courage strengthens our resolve as a people,” he noted, adding that the Navy has since grown into a modern and versatile maritime power — defending sea routes, contributing to international peace missions, and extending help in times of disaster.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the Navy’s determination and professional excellence in safeguarding Pakistan’s maritime borders. He emphasized that beyond combat, the Navy’s role in maintaining balance in the Arabian Sea and securing sea lines of communication reflected its unmatched strategic value.

Both leaders underlined that the history of the Pakistan Navy is one of bravery and resilience, proving time and again that the nation’s guardians of the sea remain ever-ready to defend Pakistan’s sovereignty.
