Global Sumud Flotilla Sets Sail for Gaza Amidst Israeli Threats

A humanitarian mission to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza is underway, with a fleet of boats carrying participants from over 44 countries, including Pakistan. The Global Sumud Flotilla, led by former Jamaat-i-Islami senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, aims to deliver aid and pressure Israel to end its siege.

The flotilla’s journey is not without risks, with Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir branding the volunteers as “terrorists” and threatening to seize their boats. Despite these threats, the participants remain committed to their cause.

“We’re not an army or a military force; we’re civilians looking to confront and break the siege,” Khan said. “We’ll embody peaceful resistance and stand against oppression.”

Organizers of the mission said the flotilla carries essential aid, including medicines and food supplies, for families in Gaza who have endured months of bombardment, shortages, and international neglect. The initiative has drawn global attention, with human rights activists, lawmakers, and civil society representatives from across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas taking part.

In Pakistan, political and religious groups have voiced support for the mission, calling it a symbol of solidarity with the people of Gaza. Social media campaigns under hashtags like #SumudFlotilla and #BreakTheSiege are gaining traction, amplifying the message of resistance against Israeli aggression.

As the boats sail closer to their destination, international observers warn of potential confrontation at sea, recalling past flotilla attempts that ended in violent Israeli raids.
