PESHAWAR — October 10, 2025—Confusion surrounds Ali Amin Gandapur’s resignation as chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as conflicting statements between the CM Secretariat and Governor’s House have left the resignation in limbo.
While Gandapur announced his resignation and a letter was shared with the media on Wednesday night, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi’s office claims it has not officially received the document. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister’s Secretariat insists it was delivered and even received by the Governor’s staff at 10:57pm.

“The resignation has not yet reached the Governor’s Office,” an official from the Governor’s Secretariat told Dawn. “The governor will sign it whenever it is received.”
Governor Kundi, currently in Islamabad, confirmed to reporters that he would accept the resignation once received, dismissing reports of its delivery as “fake news.”
Despite submitting his resignation, Gandapur technically remains the KP chief minister until it is formally accepted. Speaking to reporters in Islamabad, he termed the delay a “drama” and warned that such tactics could harm the province’s stability. He also denied rumors of being offered the job again, stating, “Even if I am offered the position, I will not accept it.”

PTI Faces Terrorism Allegations
In a related development, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar launched a scathing attack on PTI, accusing the party of “enabling terrorists.”
He claimed that Gandapur’s removal was due to his alleged refusal to support militants. Tarar also criticized the nomination of Sohail Afridi as Gandapur’s replacement, calling it an effort to “promote and enable terrorism in the province.”
“These [people] are enabled by a person sitting in jail,” Tarar said, referring to Imran Khan, whom he labelled the “chief sponsor of terrorism.”
The allegations come amid increased tensions between the federal government and PTI over governance in KP, law and order issues, and the party’s internal power shifts following Khan’s imprisonment.
