Heavy Losses in South Waziristan and Lower Dir
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), 12 soldiers were martyred in South Waziristan when security forces engaged militants earlier this week. Thirteen terrorists were eliminated in that clash.
In a follow-up operation in Lower Dir, another seven soldiers laid down their lives while forces killed 10 more militants.
ISPR confirmed that these terrorists were part of “Indian proxy Fitna al Khwarij”, a term the state uses for banned TTP fighters. Similar Balochistan-based outfits have been identified as Fitna al Hindustan to highlight India’s alleged hand in violence inside Pakistan.
PM and COAS Visit Bannu
Radio Pakistan reported that PM Shehbaz, alongside Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, visited Bannu on Saturday. They attended funeral prayers of the martyrs and met the injured at Bannu Combined Military Hospital.
Both leaders were also briefed on the regional security situation by the Peshawar Corps commander during a high-level meeting on counter-terrorism.
“No Compromise Against Terror”
The prime minister made it clear that Pakistan’s response will remain firm.
“There will be no ambiguity and no compromise in this fight,” he said, warning that anyone who supports terrorists or acts as a proxy for India will be treated as their agent.
He stressed that many terrorist leaders were operating from Afghan soil with external backing. The Afghan interim government, he said, must choose between supporting khwarij or standing with Pakistan.
Call for Repatriation of Illegal Afghans
PM Shehbaz also underlined the role of infiltrated Afghan nationals in recent terror incidents. He stressed the urgent repatriation of illegal Afghan residents to prevent further violence.
Nation Standing Firm
The premier praised the people of KP for standing “like a fortified wall” alongside the armed forces. He said Pakistan would immediately take administrative and legal measures to strengthen its counter-terrorism response.
Growing Wave of Attacks
Pakistan has seen a rise in militant activity in KP and Balochistan in recent months. Earlier this month, six soldiers were martyred in Bannu while thwarting an attack on the FC Headquarters.
The military has since intensified its operations, killing dozens of militants in Mohmand, North Waziristan, Bannu, Mastung, and along the Afghan border.
