CTD Punjab Arrests 89 Terrorists in 3-Month Crackdown

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab has arrested 89 terrorists in a major intelligence-led crackdown across the province during the past three months.

According to a CTD statement issued on Monday, the arrests came after 940 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted in multiple districts.

  • Breakdown of arrests:
    • Lahore: 14
    • Rawalpindi: 14
    • Faisalabad & Bahawalpur: 7 each
    • Jhang & Sargodha: 6 each
    • Sahiwal: 5
    • Gujranwala: 4
    • Bahawalnagar & Gujrat: 3 each
  • Of those arrested, 55 belonged to Fitna al Khawarij (TTP terrorists), while others were linked to ISIS, Al-Qaeda, Hizb-ut-Tahrir, and Jeay Sindh.
  • Seized material during the raids included:
    • 20.2 kg explosive material
    • 85 detonators
    • 183 feet safety fuse wire
    • 717 banned pamphlets
    • Mobile phones, cash, and other devices
  • CTD confirmed that 87 criminal cases have been registered, and the arrested militants had been planning attacks on important buildings in several cities.
  • Officials reiterated CTD Punjab’s resolve, stating:

    “We remain vigilant and committed to the ‘Safe Punjab’ mission. Terrorists and anti-state elements will be brought to justice.”

  • Additional security actions this week:
    • 13,521 combing operations across Punjab
    • 552,692 people checked
    • 1,131 suspicious individuals arrested
    • 1,061 FIRs registered
    • 906 recoveries made

In a related development, KP CTD killed three terrorists — including an Afghan national — in an IBO in Khyber district. The group was linked to a suicide bombing in Peshawar that had martyred a sub-inspector and a constable.
