Islamabad — A judicial magistrate on Monday issued arrest warrants for former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur after he failed to appear before the court in a liquor and arms recovery case despite repeated summons.

Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Chishti was presiding over proceedings when Gandapur once again did not attend the hearing. The court subsequently issued arrest warrants and ordered authorities to ensure his production at the next hearing, scheduled for November 24. The case, registered at the Barakahu police station, pertains to the alleged recovery of liquor and illegal weapons.

Meanwhile, proceedings in a separate matter — the controversial tweet case involving lawyer Imaan Mazari and her spouse, Hadi Ali Chatha — were adjourned until November 19. The case is being heard by Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka.

During Monday’s hearing, Mazari submitted a fresh power of attorney, while her legal counsel sought more time to prepare arguments. Judge Majoka remarked that the court would record testimony and conduct cross-examination at the next hearing, directing all parties to come fully prepared.

The case, registered by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) under applicable cybercrime laws, concerns an online post deemed contentious by the authorities. Hearings in the matter are ongoing as the defence continues to review the evidence.

The court later adjourned the proceedings, fixing November 19 for the next hearing in the cybercrime case and November 24 for Gandapur’s mandatory appearance in the liquor and arms recovery case.
