November 19, 2025 – Confusion over the alleged shifting of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) back to its old G-10 building intensified after a November 7 administrative letter went viral on social media.

The letter, which directed the transfer of official records to the former premises, was widely misinterpreted as an order to relocate the entire high court.IHC senior officials and the Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA) swiftly rejected the rumours as “baseless and misleading”.
Sources told the media that the directive was issued only to vacate four courtrooms previously used by Federal Shariat Court (FSC) judges. These rooms were urgently required to accommodate judges of the newly-created Federal Constitutional Court (FCC).
Following resistance from FSC judges, authorities temporarily housed seven newly-appointed FCC judges inside the existing IHC building at Shahrah-i-Dastur.IHCBA Secretary Manzoor Ahmed Jajja stressed that the hard-won permanent building, secured after decades of struggle, will not be abandoned. “The Islamabad High Court is not going anywhere,” he declared.

However, the Islamabad District Bar Association has supported the opposite view and urged Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar to shift IHC back to G-10, claiming it would improve access for lawyers and reduce case delays.
A high-level meeting is expected soon to finalise seating arrangements for both IHC and FCC.
Until an official decision is announced, authorities maintain that the Islamabad High Court remains firmly at its current location in Constitution Avenue.
