ATC Lahore Extends Interim Bail for Aleema and Uzma Khanum until April 16

Mar 13, 2026 | PTI

In a hearing conducted on Friday, March 13, 2026, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore granted an extension in the interim bail of Aleema Khanum and Uzma Khanum, the sisters of PTI founder Imran Khan. The case stems from a protest held on October 5, where police officials were reportedly attacked and vehicles set on fire.

Exemption from Attendance

The sisters did not appear in the Lahore court personally today. Their legal team filed a formal request for a one-day exemption, citing that both Aleema and Uzma were required to attend court proceedings in Islamabad related to their brother’s health and legal cases.

The Prosecution’s Allegations

The state prosecutor argued against the bail, maintaining that:

  • The sisters played a central role in inciting workers to engage in violent activities.
  • The protest led to direct attacks on law enforcement and the destruction of public property.
  • The case, registered at the Shafiqabad Police Station, involves charges under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The Defense’s Argument: “Political Implication”

Counsel for the sisters countered that the charges are politically motivated.

  • Alibi: The lawyers stated that neither Aleema nor Uzma were physically present at the sites of violence in Lahore on October 5.
  • Affiliation: They argued that the sisters are being implicated solely because of their relationship with the PTI founder and their party affiliation.

Final Arguments on April 16

Judge Arshad Javed has instructed the prosecution to complete their arguments by the next hearing. The interim bail remains in place until April 16, 2026, providing the sisters temporary protection from arrest in this specific case.
