QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail on Tuesday directed the district administration of Zhob to utilise all available resources to curb crime, ensure lasting peace and safeguard the lives and property of residents, officials said.

The governor issued the instructions during a one-day visit to Zhob, where he reviewed the performance of the district administration and assessed measures taken to improve law and order. Senator Saeed-ul-Hassan Mandokhail and provincial lawmaker Zarak Khan Mandokhail accompanied him during the visit.

Addressing local officials, Governor Mandokhail emphasised that maintaining peace and security was essential for economic stability and social development. He said effective law enforcement and people-friendly governance could help restore public confidence, facilitate commercial activity and create a conducive environment for small traders and shopkeepers.

“The administration must ensure that citizens feel safe in their daily lives and businesses can operate without fear,” the governor said. He added that improved security conditions would not only enhance the quality of life for residents but also attract national investors and contribute to the district’s economic growth.

The governor called for strengthening the capacity of law enforcement agencies through better coordination, training and use of available resources. He stressed the need for preventive policing and community engagement to address the root causes of crime rather than relying solely on reactive measures.

While acknowledging the efforts of the district administration and security agencies, Governor Mandokhail said more work was required to ensure transparency, accountability and effective service delivery. He urged officials to adopt governance practices that were responsive to public needs and complaints.

During his visit, the governor also highlighted the importance of development in social sectors. He said that sustainable peace could not be achieved without parallel progress in education, healthcare and infrastructure. He directed the administration to prioritise improvements in schools and hospitals and ensure that teachers and healthcare workers were provided with adequate training and resources.

“Infrastructure development is the backbone of real progress and prosperity,” he said, adding that access to quality education and healthcare was a fundamental right of every citizen in Zhob district.

Officials briefed the governor on ongoing development projects and security measures, as well as challenges faced by the administration. The governor assured them of provincial support and reiterated his commitment to improving governance and public welfare in the district.

Zhob, a district in northern Balochistan, has faced law and order challenges in recent years that have affected economic activity and public confidence. The governor’s visit comes amid broader efforts by the provincial government to stabilise the region and promote development through improved security and service delivery.
