Blocked Trailer Triggers Pile-up

According to Swabi Rescue 1122 spokesperson Luqman, the carnage began when a heavy trailer lost control and blocked the motorway lanes. Due to high speeds and the sudden obstruction, multiple vehicles trailing behind were unable to brake in time, resulting in a violent “pile-up.”

One victim died on the spot, while the second succumbed to their injuries shortly after reaching the hospital. Motorway Police confirmed that their teams reached the site within minutes to cordoned off the area and begin the difficult process of extracting passengers from the wreckage.

Emergency Declared at Bacha Khan Teaching Hospital

Following the arrival of the casualties, an emergency was declared at the Bacha Khan Teaching Hospital. Hospital spokesperson Rahan Yousafzai stated that the facility’s director put all surgical and trauma staff on high alert.

“The medical team is working around the clock to stabilize the five patients in critical condition, most of whom suffered severe head and chest trauma,” Yousafzai added.

  • Current Status: Traffic flow has been fully restored.
  • Safety Warning: Motorway Police have reiterated their call for drivers to maintain a safe following distance and adhere to speed limits, especially during early morning hours when visibility can be compromised.

Authorities have launched a formal inquiry into the initial trailer accident.

  • Next Hearing/Report: A preliminary safety report by the National Highways & Motorway Police (NHMP) is expected within 48 hours.
