October 14,2025, RAWALPINDI: Funeral prayers were offered on Monday for 14 Pakistani soldiers martyred during fierce clashes along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border over the weekend, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
According to ISPR, 23 Pakistani troops were martyred in the conflict, while over 200 Afghan Taliban fighters and affiliated terrorists were killed after an unprovoked cross-border attack from Afghan territory.
The funeral prayers for 12 martyrs were held at Chaklala Garrison, Rawalpindi, attended by Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, federal ministers, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, senior civil and military officers, and members of the public.

Two other martyrs were laid to rest with full military honours in their native towns. Lance Naik Muhammad Waqas was buried in Bhrroll village near Changa Bangial, while Sepoy Muhammad Tayyab was laid to rest in Jhuggian village, Pind Dadan Khan Tehsil.
In a statement, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif condemned the “cowardly and treacherous aggression” by the Taliban regime and Indian-backed terrorist proxies.
“The people of Pakistan are indebted to the ultimate sacrifice of these heroes,” he said. “Our armed forces remain fully committed to defending Pakistan’s territorial integrity, with the unwavering support of the nation.”
This tragic loss comes amid rising tensions along the porous Pakistan-Afghanistan border, raising renewed concerns about security threats emanating from Afghan soil.
