Imran Khan Family Stands Firm Against manufactured Jail Reports

Feb 18, 2026 | PTI

The controversy surrounding Imran Khan’s vision has reached a fever pitch as of Wednesday, February 18, 2026. While a government medical board claims a miraculous recovery in the jailed former Prime Minister’s eyesight, his family and the Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aiyeen Pakistan (TTAP) alliance have dismissed the report as a “fabrication” designed to cover up medical neglect.

The Conflicting Eye Reports

The dispute hinges on a dramatic difference in “ophthalmic readings” between the court-appointed lawyer’s account and the government’s medical board.

Metric Family/Lawyer Report (Feb 12) Govt Medical Board (Feb 15)
Right Eye Vision 15% remaining (6/36 or worse) 6/9 (Partial) — Near Normal
Left Eye Vision Blurred/Hazy 6/6 — Perfectly fine
Status Rapid deterioration over 3 months “Significant improvement” with glasses

Aleema Khan: “Why the Secrecy?”

Speaking to Al Jazeera and later addressing the media after being barred from Adiala Jail on Tuesday, Aleema Khan raised several pointed questions that have fueled public skepticism:

  • Exclusion of Personal Doctors: She questioned why the government refuses to allow Dr. Aasim Yusuf (Khan’s long-term physician) to be present during examinations.
  • The Shifa U-Turn: Aleema claimed the family was initially promised Imran would be moved to Shifa International Hospital, but the government “abruptly changed the plan” to a jail-based checkup.
  • Verification Gap: Dr. Aasim Yusuf stated he could neither confirm nor deny the 6/9 reading because he was denied “confidential and physical access” to the patient.

“We do not accept any reports or results they manufacture. Without his personal doctor and a family representative, we categorically reject any claims regarding his health.”Aleema Khan

Political Stalemate & Blocked Meetings

The situation took a tense turn on Tuesday, February 17, when the expected “weekly meeting” day resulted in further friction:

  1. Sisters Detained: Aleema, Noreen, and Uzma Khan were stopped at the Chakri Interchange by police and reportedly detained for four hours, preventing them from reaching Adiala Jail.
  2. Leaders Barred: PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar and Salman Akram Raja were also denied entry to the prison, despite court orders permitting regular meetings.
  3. The Counter-Narrative: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held a press conference in Lahore, accusing the family of “politicizing” a health issue. He claimed Gohar Ali Khan was invited to witness the checkup on Sunday but refused to show up.

What Happens Next?

The TTAP has announced that their Parliament House sit-in (now in its 6th day) will not end until:

  • Dr. Aasim Yusuf and Dr. Faisal Sultan are granted a private, independent examination of Imran Khan.
  • All original diagnostic scans, X-rays, and lab tests from the Sunday checkup are handed over to the family’s doctors.
  • A clear timeline is given for specialist retinal treatment at a multidisciplinary hospital.
