ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Tuesday announced new partnerships with rail companies in Canada and the United Kingdom, aimed at providing greater convenience to passengers travelling onward to destinations beyond the airline’s flight network.
In a press release, a spokesperson for the national flag carrier said special arrangements had been made for passengers travelling to Toronto as well as to cities in the UK, allowing them to seamlessly connect to rail services after their flights.
According to the spokesperson, PIA has launched an “air-to-rail” partnership with established rail operators in both countries. Under the initiative, passengers will be able to travel by air and rail on a single ticket, eliminating the need to make separate bookings for train journeys.

“PIA passengers will now be able to book their rail tickets along with their air tickets to reach their final destination via rail, saving time and effort,” the spokesperson said.
Under the new arrangement, passengers arriving in Toronto on PIA flights will be able to connect by train to eight major cities across Canada through the airline’s partner rail service. The move is expected to benefit travellers heading to destinations not directly served by PIA’s flight operations.
Similarly, passengers flying to London and Manchester will be able to access rail connections to more than 50 cities across the United Kingdom. The spokesperson said this would allow travellers to continue their journeys conveniently and efficiently using the country’s extensive rail network.

PIA said the booking process for the combined air and rail travel has been simplified. Passengers can purchase their rail tickets along with their flights through PIA’s booking offices, registered travel agents, the airline’s official website and its mobile application.
The airline said the initiative is part of its efforts to enhance passenger experience by offering integrated travel solutions and improving connectivity for international travellers.
