On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, a delegation of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) called on President Asif Ali Zardari at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad.
The meeting took place amidst a challenging period for the province, which has seen a recent uptick in security incidents and ongoing friction between the provincial and federal governments.
Key Discussion Points
According to the official statement from the President House Media Wing, the talks centered on three primary areas:
- Provincial Governance: The leaders briefed the President on specific administrative and development challenges facing the various districts of KP.
- Security Situation: In light of the recent Islamabad Imambargah bombing (Feb 6)—where the mastermind was traced back to KP—the delegation discussed the heightening threat of militancy and the need for coordinated intelligence-sharing between provincial and federal agencies.
- Political Landscape: The group reviewed the PPP’s organizational strength in the province and the evolving political dynamics as the party seeks to bridge gaps in a traditionally PTI-heavy region.

The PPP’s Role in KP
While the PTI currently leads the provincial government in KP, the PPP holds the Governorship (Faisal Karim Kundi), positioning the party as a critical mediator between Peshawar and Islamabad.
The President reaffirmed that the federal government is committed to the stability of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and emphasized that “no compromise” would be made on the security of its citizens.
