PPP Will Never End Support for Kashmiris’ Struggle, Says AJK PM Rathore

LARKANA: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore on Saturday reaffirmed that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) would continue to extend unwavering support to the Kashmir cause, declaring that the bond between Pakistan and the people of Kashmir remained “solid and unbreakable”.

Speaking to the media during his visit to the Bhuttos’ mausoleum in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, Rathore said that the people of Kashmir had always aligned themselves with Pakistan. “The streets of Kashmir echo with the slogan ‘We are Pakistanis’,” he remarked, adding that the people of AJK had stood firm despite living along the Line of Control (LoC), facing Indian forces positioned on the opposite side.

The AJK premier, who laid floral wreaths and offered fateha at the graves of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto, Mir Murtaza Bhutto and Shahnawaz Bhutto, said PPP’s legacy of advocacy for Kashmiris was deeply rooted in its history. He recalled Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s stance on Kashmir, noting that the former prime minister had pledged that Pakistan would stand with Kashmiris “even for a thousand years” until they achieved freedom. He added that Benazir Bhutto continued that policy during her tenure, and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari had remained steadfast in carrying it forward.

Rathore credited President Asif Ali Zardari for PPP’s renewed political gains in AJK. He said that the party, which won 11 seats in the 2021 AJK elections, had now expanded its presence to 29 seats — a development he attributed to growing public trust and the leadership’s efforts. “This government will prove to be a trailer for the 2026 elections,” he said confidently, predicting that the PPP would form the next AJK government from 2026 to 2031 and that Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari would become the next prime minister of Pakistan.

Addressing recent unrest in AJK, Rathore acknowledged that public frustrations had led to protest movements, but said Bilawal’s confidence and political engagement had helped the party consolidate its position. He added that upon assuming office, his government launched the “health card” initiative and would soon unveil several development projects for the region.

The AJK premier was accompanied by members of his cabinet, MPA Sohail Anwar Siyal, Larkana Commissioner Tahir Hussain Sangi, Deputy Commissioner Dr Sharjeel Noor Channa, District Council Chairman Aijaz Ahmed Leghari, government officials and a large number of PPP workers.
