In a major milestone for domestic cricket, the 2026 season will expand to eight teams and feature matches in Peshawar and Faisalabad for the first time in the league’s history.

A League Expanded: 8 Teams, 44 Matches
This year marks the largest iteration of the PSL to date. The addition of two new franchises—Hyderabad Kingsmen and Rawalpindi Pindiz—means the tournament will now consist of 44 matches played over 39 days.
Venues & Match Distribution
The tournament will be spread across six cities. While Lahore remains the hub (hosting 15 matches including the Final), the inclusion of Faisalabad and Peshawar has generated immense excitement among local fans.

The Schedule: Key Dates to Remember
The league kicks off on March 26 at the Gaddafi Stadium with a high-profile clash between the reigning champions and the new Hyderabad franchise.
- Opening Match: Lahore Qalandars vs. Hyderabad Kingsmen (March 26).
- Group Stage: Each team plays 10 matches.
- Playoffs: April 28 – May 2.
- The Grand Final: Sunday, May 3, 2026 (Lahore).
- Reserve Day: Monday, May 4.
Impact of the ‘Austerity Measures’ on PSL
While the schedule is confirmed, the PCB is coordinating closely with the federal government regarding the recently announced National Austerity Plan.
- Match Timings: Most matches are expected to be played under lights, but the PCB is reviewing “energy-saving protocols” for stadium lighting.

Renovations at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad are reportedly entering the final phase to meet international broadcasting standards. The PSL 11 Player Draft is expected to take place next week, where the two new teams will have the first pick in the Platinum category to build their foundation.
