Even as PTI founder Imran Khan remains imprisoned, a group of former party leaders is seeking to break the political deadlock by advocating dialogue with the government and other political parties. Former information minister Fawad Chaudhry has taken the lead in these efforts, stating that over a dozen lawmakers have expressed support for engaging the government to stabilize Pakistan’s volatile political environment. Chaudhry clarified that he does not officially represent the PTI but is acting as a concerned citizen aiming to reduce confrontation. He plans to meet the National Assembly speaker and Senate chairman to explore ways to de-escalate tensions, urging the government to provide relief to jailed PTI leaders in Lahore and Gujranwala as a step toward meaningful engagement.
Chaudhry claimed that many senior party politicians, including those incarcerated, recognize the need for dialogue to move forward. He suggested that continued political agitation and confrontation have not yielded results, and a reconciliatory approach could create “normal political breathing space” without undermining Imran Khan’s authority.

Meanwhile, Asad Qaiser, former National Assembly speaker and a PTI stalwart, emphasized that the party would engage only on its core principles. He stressed that dialogue would be possible only if the “stolen mandate” was restored and assurances of free and fair elections were given, dismissing the overtures of some former leaders as not reflecting official PTI policy.
Former Sindh governor Imran Ismail also clarified that the efforts were not part of a “minus-Imran formula,” but aimed at shifting politics away from confrontation while maintaining loyalty to Khan. According to Ismail, consultations with key party figures revealed broad acknowledgment that confrontation alone had failed and reconciliation was necessary.
