KARACHI, Sept. 10 — The Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued strict social media guidelines for judges, judicial officers and court staff to protect the dignity and impartiality of the judiciary.

In a letter sent by SHC’s Member Inspection Team Haleem Ahmed, it was stated that Chief Justice Muhammad Junaid Ghaffar was concerned over repeated violations of earlier instructions. The chief justice has now ordered new rules, warning that any violation will be treated as misconduct and could lead to disciplinary action.
The guidelines bar judges and staff from making political comments, sharing opinions, or forwarding messages on sensitive issues. They have also been told not to use their official position for personal or political promotion on social media.
Officials must avoid commenting on pending or decided cases, and are advised not to accept friend requests from lawyers or litigants to prevent conflicts of interest. Sharing confidential information or making disrespectful remarks online has also been strictly prohibited.
The SHC stressed that all judicial officers and staff must act with responsibility and maintain the highest standards of conduct, both online and offline.
