Ex-governor Raja Jalal Maqpoon also served show-cause notice
Termination notices, issued on September 5 and signed by Additional Secretary General Firdous Shamim Naqvi, said the expulsions were effective immediately. The letters accused the lawmakers of causing “harm to the party’s interests and reputation” and warned them against using PTI’s name, flag, or platform.

Those expelled include Surayya Zaman, Shamsul Haq Lone, Raja Nasir Khan Maqpoon, Raja Azam Khan Amacha, Syed Amjad Zaidi, Mushtaq Ahmad, Haji Shah Baig, Dilshad Bano, Abdul Hameed, and Fazal Rahim.
In a related move, PTI also issued a show-cause notice to former G-B governor Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon, accusing him of conspiring against the party and encouraging defections. He has been asked to respond in writing within two days.
The expulsions highlight the party’s deepening rift in Gilgit-Baltistan, where Gulbar Khan rose to power in 2023 with the backing of PTI dissidents and opposition parties after the disqualification of ex-CM Khalid Khurshid Khan. With the GB Assembly’s term ending in November 2025, the development adds another layer of political uncertainty to the region.
