LAHORE — A powerful spell of heavy rains and thunderstorms has battered Punjab over the past 24 hours, leaving a trail of destruction that has claimed three lives and injured 17 others. Rescue officials confirmed on Wednesday that the casualties were primarily caused by structural collapses and rain-related accidents across several districts.

Regional Impact and Rescue Operations
The Rescue 1122 spokesperson detailed a harrowing 24 hours as emergency teams scrambled to respond to structural failures. In Sargodha, a house wall collapse not only injured a resident but also resulted in the death of livestock. In Muzaffargarh and Chiniot, the slippery conditions led to multiple injuries from falls.
All severely injured victims have been shifted to nearby hospitals for immediate medical treatment. Local authorities remain on high alert as the debris from collapsed structures is cleared.
Meteorological Warning: Flash Flood Risk
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had previously issued warnings for this system, which brought widespread thunderstorms to south Punjab and northeast Balochistan on April 6 and 7.
