October 14, 2025 — PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has referred 10 missing persons’ cases to the Commission on Missing Persons for further investigation and action. Chief Justice Syed Muhammad Atiq Shah heard a total of 14 petitions related to enforced disappearances from various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday.

A two-member bench, headed by the Chief Justice, disposed of two petitions and issued notices to the federal and provincial governments in one case, seeking detailed responses. In another case, the court ordered the blocking of the petitioner’s CNIC due to repeated non-appearances.
Representatives from the Attorney General’s office, provincial law officers, police, and the Home Department attended the proceedings alongside petitioners’ counsels. The bench underscored that enforced disappearances are a serious human rights concern and instructed the Commission to accelerate efforts to trace missing individuals and keep the court updated on developments.
