Known for her strong acting performances and massive social media following, Aamir brings a youthful, digitally savvy presence to UN Women’s portfolio. Her appointment is expected to attract greater awareness among Pakistan’s younger generation, especially young girls.
She joins an elite group of goodwill ambassadors, including regional figures such as Muniba Mazari, Farhan Akhtar, and Sania Mirza, alongside global names like Emma Watson, Nicole Kidman, and Anne Hathaway.

In Pakistan, other UN goodwill ambassadors include Mahira Khan (UNHCR), Fawad Khan (UNDP), Shehzad Roy (UNODC), and Saba Qamar (UNICEF).
UN Women has played a key role in Pakistan’s gender equality movement, particularly during recent crises. In response to the country’s devastating floods, the organization established Women Safe Spaces in affected areas, offering legal advice, counselling, and childcare services.
Aamir’s appointment signals a fresh chapter in advocacy for women’s empowerment in Pakistan, aligning star power with social impact to reach broader audiences.
