The event, to be held at the Qayyum Sports Complex in Peshawar, offers citizens a chance to own “Personalized Registration Marks” (PRMs) that reflect tribal heritage, family names, and regional pride.

A Booming Market: The “Wazir-1” Record
The February 14 auction follows a highly successful session on January 27, where the province generated over Rs 58 million in a single day.
- The Record Holder: The plate “Wazir 1” currently holds the record for the most expensive plate in KP, sold for a staggering Rs 15 million.
- Celebrity Bids: “Afridi 1” was famously acquired by Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi for Rs 14 million, while “Khan 1” was secured by MPA Naik Muhammad Khan for Rs 11.1 million.
The “Afridi 1” registration plate has received a top bid of PKR 1.45 crore in an ongoing auction, reflecting strong demand for premium number plates.

Why Personalized Plates?
According to Provincial Minister Syed Fakhar Jahan, the initiative serves dual purposes:
- Revenue Generation: The funds are earmarked for provincial development and public welfare projects.
- Modernization: These numbers are tied to the owner’s CNIC rather than the chassis, allowing owners to retain the number even if they sell their vehicle (similar to a mobile SIM card).
Note: While plates for names like “Imran Khan-804” were initially proposed, the government recently removed plates bearing the names of active political leaders from the auction list to maintain the focus on cultural and regional identity.
