LAHORE (April 28, 2026) — A special court (central) in Lahore granted interim pre-arrest bail today to Rabia Imran, daughter of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and her husband, Imran Yousaf, in a money laundering case. The couple appeared in person before Judge Ashfaq Ahmed to surrender and seek protection from arrest. The court allowed the bail petitions, subject to the submission of surety bonds, and officially restrained the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from taking the couple into custody until the next hearing on May 7.

The legal reprieve marks a significant turn in the long-standing cases against the Prime Minister’s family members. While the accountability court had previously acquitted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and others in the Saaf Pani reference, the warrants against his daughter and son-in-law remained active until their recent return and surrender. With today’s court order, the FIA cannot proceed with an arrest in the money laundering inquiry for at least the next nine days, allowing the defense to prepare its formal arguments.
