Sales of cars, pickups, vans, and jeeps rose 79% year-on-year in July, reaching 19,818 units. Sales fell 13% compared with June, according to data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA). Myesha Sohail of Topline Securities said new market entrants, new product launches, and a surge in auto financing drove the annual growth. She said uncertainty around the new auto policy caused the monthly dip.

Small Cars and Trucks Post Strong Gains
Suzuki Alto sales rose to 7,217 units in July, up from 2,327 units a year earlier. Suzuki Every sales climbed to 492 units from 230. Truck sales surged 169% to 854 units, and bus sales rose 14% to 65 units. Farm tractor sales grew 4% to 1,242 units, up from 1,195 units in July 2025.
Larger Vehicles See the Sharpest Jumps
Sales in the 1,300cc-and-above segment rose 111% year-on-year to 9,066 units. The Suzuki Swift posted the strongest growth in this category, climbing 287% to 2,018 units from 522. Honda Civic and Honda City sales followed, rising 121% to 2,529 units from 1,143. In the 1,000cc segment, the Suzuki Cultus was the sole model, and its sales rose 64% to 392 units.
Not every model gained ground, though. Toyota Fortuner and Revo sales fell 12% to 806 units, and Hyundai Tucson sales dropped sharply to 171 units from 546 a year earlier. Honda BR-V and HR-V sales fell to 111 units from 357, and Sazgar’s Haval and Tank sales declined 39% to 663 units from 1,079.
Two-Wheelers and Pickups Also Show Growth
Two- and three-wheeler sales rose 38% year-on-year to 172,416 units. Atlas Honda sold 150,063 units, up 43%, while Suzuki’s two-wheeler sales rose 29% to 3,259 units. JAC’s pickup sales jumped 140% to 357 units, and United Auto’s motorcycle sales rose 30% to 16,393 units. Sazgar’s three-wheeler sales climbed to 2,562 units from 1,415.
Sohail expects the sector’s momentum to carry into FY27, supported by new vehicle variants and additional brands entering the market. She projects double-digit growth for the year ahead. Separately, PAMA data show a broader shift in buyer preference, from traditional internal combustion engines to hybrid and electric vehicles, over the first eleven months of FY26. Combining this shift with smooth financing activity helped push overall auto sales up 47 percent for the 11-month period compared with the same time frame from the earlier year.
