August 19, 2025 – A fresh spell of monsoon rains has caused flash floods in several districts of Balochistan, leading to loss of life, damage to property, and disruption of key transport routes.
Current Situation
- Districts Affected: Ziarat, Khuzdar, Surab, Jhal Magsi, Harnai, and Kalat.
- Casualties:
- At least two people dead after a roof collapse in Harnai.
- Several others injured.
- In Gachina, three people were swept away by floods; two rescued, one child missing.
- Infrastructure Damage:
- Over 115 houses damaged in Surab.
- Quetta-Sibi road closed in Kachhi due to heavy downpours.
- Bibi Nani bridge damaged after flooding in the Bolan River.
- Authorities have advised people to avoid unnecessary travel.
Relief and Rescue Efforts
- Government Action: Balochistan Government has dispatched relief goods to flood-hit families not only within the province but also to Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, showing a coordinated national response.
- On-Ground Operations:
- PDMA and NDMA teams are engaged in rescue and relief missions.
- Military support has been mobilized for evacuation and aid delivery.
