RAWALPINDI – November 7, 2025
The Chief of the General Staff (CGS) of the British Army, General Sir Charles Roland Vincent Walker, met Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Asim Munir, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Thursday to discuss ways to bolster bilateral defence cooperation and regional stability.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, regional security, and measures to further enhance military-to-military collaboration between the two countries. “Both sides reiterated the need for continued cooperation to ensure peace and stability in the region,” the statement read.

Upon his arrival at GHQ, Gen Walker laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-i-Shuhada to pay tribute to Pakistan’s martyrs and was presented with a guard of honour by a Pakistan Army contingent.
The ISPR noted that the visiting British general “appreciated the Pakistan Army’s achievements and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and its contributions toward regional peace and stability.”
The meeting marked the latest in a series of high-level military engagements between the two allies. COAS Munir and Gen Walker last met in February during the Pakistani army chief’s official visit to the United Kingdom, where he addressed the 7th Regional Stabilisation Conference at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and held talks with senior UK officials, including then-Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Tony Radakin and National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell.
The renewed engagement underscores Pakistan and the UK’s long-standing security ties, particularly in counterterrorism, training, and defence diplomacy.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza held meetings with Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and senior defence officials during an official visit to Brunei Darussalam. The CJCSC reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening military-to-military cooperation, regional peace, and strategic dialogue.
During his visit, Gen Mirza was also given a guard of honour and delivered a lecture on Pakistan’s contributions to regional peace at Brunei’s Defence Academy.
