ISLAMABAD, October 29,2025 — China plans to build 100 hospitals and establish new economic zones in Balochistan to enhance healthcare facilities, generate employment opportunities, and strengthen water resource management in the province, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong said on Tuesday.
The envoy made the remarks during a meeting of the Pakistan-China Friendship Group held at Parliament House, chaired by Senator Sherry Rehman.
Ambassador Jiang said Beijing was committed to further deepening its “all-weather, time-tested, iron-clad friendship” with Pakistan, adding that the initiatives would contribute to social development and economic stability in Balochistan.
According to the ambassador, China also intends to expand cooperation in education by introducing additional student exchange and technical training programmes. He said such initiatives would enhance people-to-people linkages and provide Pakistani students greater access to modern skills and technology.

Senior parliamentarians from various political parties and regions, along with a high-level Chinese delegation, attended the meeting. The ambassador appreciated the inclusive representation of senators from across Pakistan and expressed confidence that bilateral relations would continue to strengthen under the framework of mutual respect and shared development goals.

Senator Rehman, chairing the session, lauded China’s consistent support for Pakistan in areas of infrastructure, health, and economic cooperation. She said the friendship between the two nations had remained resilient through changing global circumstances and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to advancing collaborative projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The meeting concluded with both sides emphasising the importance of accelerating ongoing development initiatives, particularly in healthcare and education, to ensure inclusive growth in underdeveloped regions like Balochistan.
The announcement comes as Pakistan and China mark over seven decades of diplomatic ties, with Beijing continuing to play a key role in Pakistan’s development agenda through infrastructure, energy, and social welfare projects.
