COAS Munir Visits Flood-Hit Kasur, Multan; Stresses Good Governance and Civil-Military Synergy

RAWALPINDI, Sept 13 — Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited the flood-affected areas of Kasur Sector and Jalalpur Pirwala tehsil in Multan on Saturday to review the situation and ongoing relief work, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

Visit to Flood Relief Camps

According to ISPR, the army chief received a detailed briefing on the prevailing ground situation and ongoing rescue operations. He interacted with Punjab’s chief secretary, senior civil officials, and local administration.

The visit, the ISPR noted, aimed to enhance synergy between the civil administration and the military to ensure timely support for flood-hit communities.

Call for Good Governance

During discussions with civil officials, Field Marshal Munir underlined the importance of good governance and people-centric progress. He said infrastructure development projects needed to be expedited to shield communities from recurring flood devastation.

“The state cannot afford the loss of precious lives and properties every year,” the COAS remarked.

Support for Affected Families

The army chief also met with displaced families at relief camps. He assured them of continued assistance in resettlement and rehabilitation, while the evacuees expressed gratitude for the Pakistan Army’s timely response.

Meeting Troops and Relief Workers

Munir also appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Army troops, Rescue 1122 staff, and police personnel engaged in the operations. He praised their morale, readiness, and dedication in difficult conditions.

Later, the COAS carried out an aerial reconnaissance along the Lahore–Kasur and Multan–Jalalpur Pirwala axes to assess the scale of damage and oversee relief measures.
