Regional Security Response
Bannu Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sajjad Khan visited the injured at the hospital, ensuring they receive the best possible medical care. In a defiant statement, the RPO asserted that such “cowardly acts” would not deter the force.
“The police are fully prepared and committed to foiling the nefarious plans of the enemies of peace,” he stated, following a briefing on the initial investigation.
A Troubled Fortnight for Lakki Marwat
The district has become a flashpoint for militant activity in early 2026. This latest blast comes exactly 14 days after an IED targeted a squad from the Shadikhel police station in the Bettani subdivision. That attack resulted in the martyrdom of six policemen, including a Station House Officer (SHO), and a seventh officer later succumbing to his injuries.
Security analysts point to the repeated use of IEDs against mobile patrols as a tactical shift by “Fitna al Khawarij” (TTP) to inflict maximum casualties while avoiding direct fire engagements with superior security forces.
Law enforcement agencies have cordoned off Serai Naurang and launched a search operation to apprehend the perpetrators. Power companies are currently working to restore electricity to the area following the damage to the transmission lines.
