TURBAT, October 28, 2025— Eight people, including seven personnel of the Levies Force, were injured in a bomb blast targeting the convoy of Kech Deputy Commissioner (DC) Major (retd) Bashir Barech in Turbat, Balochistan, on Monday, police said.

According to Kech Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Captain (retd) Zohaib Mohsin, the explosion occurred on Press Club Road and was caused by a remote-controlled device planted in a motorcycle. “The bomb was detonated when the deputy commissioner’s convoy was passing through the area,” he said, adding that the blast injured several Levies personnel and a passerby.

Later, SSP Mohsin confirmed that the number of injured had risen to eight, including seven Levies officials. The DC, who was travelling from his residence to his office, remained unhurt as he was in a bulletproof vehicle. His car, however, sustained partial damage.

“The explosion was powerful enough to damage four nearby vehicles and several surrounding buildings,” the police official said. Law enforcement and Frontier Corps personnel cordoned off the area shortly after the attack, and an investigation has been launched.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the bombing.

The incident comes amid a resurgence of militant violence in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where attacks targeting security forces and law enforcement personnel have intensified since the outlawed FAK former Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ended its ceasefire with the government in 2022.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif voiced concern over the deteriorating security situation in Balochistan, calling for a comprehensive review of factors driving instability in the province.

In recent weeks, Balochistan has witnessed multiple terror incidents. Earlier this month, a bomb exploded on a railway track near Dera Murad Jamali, killing a railway employee, while separate attacks in Quetta, Mastung, and Chaman claimed several lives and injured dozens.

Security forces have since intensified operations across the province as authorities attempt to curb the recent uptick in militant activity.
