QUETTA – In a significant development for Balochistan’s economic landscape, the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) held a high-level meeting with officials from Reko Diq Mining Company (RDMC) on Thursday to explore ways for local businesses to actively participate in the multibillion-dollar Reko Diq project.
The meeting, which took place in Karachi, aimed to enhance collaboration between RDMC and the local business community, focusing on inclusive procurement strategies and sustainable partnerships.

Speaking at the meeting, RDMC Country Manager Zarrar Jamali described the Reko Diq project as a transformative milestone for Pakistan’s mining sector. “This is not just a project; it’s a commitment to long-term, inclusive development. We are building a competitive and localised supply chain that empowers businesses in Balochistan,” Jamali said.
QCCI President Muhammad Ayub lauded RDMC’s proactive engagement with regional stakeholders, stressing the importance of integrating local enterprises into the supply chain. “Unlike major commercial hubs such as Karachi or Lahore, Balochistan has a limited industrial base,” he noted. “We believe RDMC’s local procurement policy can play a crucial role in bridging this gap and driving inclusive growth.”
The meeting is seen as part of broader efforts to ensure that Balochistan’s business community benefits directly from the development of Reko Diq — one of the world’s largest undeveloped copper-gold mines.
