Islamabad, December 5, 2025 – The federal government on Friday ordered a sharper crackdown against passengers attempting to travel abroad on fake or incomplete documents, as Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain jointly chaired a high-level meeting in the capital.
Authorities will roll out sweeping immigration reforms, including an AI-based pilot system launching in Islamabad from January, to stop illegal migration at the source and protect the reputation of the Pakistani passport.

Strong Measures to Protect National Image
Recent cases of passengers being offloaded from international flights – even with apparently valid papers – prompted the urgent review, coming in the wake of last year’s Greece boat tragedy and ongoing migrant-smuggling networks.
“People who go abroad illegally damage the country’s reputation,” Interior Minister Naqvi said after the meeting. “We are working with friendly countries to improve the green passport’s global ranking, and these reforms will help genuine travellers while shutting the door on fraud.”
He added that the new AI system will flag suspicious cases in advance, making airports the last – not the first – line of defence.
Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain pledged full support from his ministry, stressing that labour visa holders must carry authentic documents. “A transparent protector system is no longer optional – it is the need of the hour,” he told participants.
Both ministers agreed that the crackdown will run alongside genuine facilitation: faster processing for legitimate workers, better overseas employment opportunities, and stronger action against human traffickers who exploit vulnerable Pakistanis.
With these steps, the government aims to restore confidence in Pakistan’s travel documents and ensure only deserving citizens represent the country abroad.
