Three major Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises — Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators — have renewed their rights for another 10 years, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Monday. The long-term extensions come as the PSL prepares to expand to eight teams from its 11th edition next year, marking a significant milestone in the league’s continued commercial and competitive growth.
According to the PCB, the renewal agreements were finalised at market valuations assessed by global audit firm Ernst & Young following what the board described as a “comprehensive and transparent” evaluation process. The move signals confidence from existing franchise owners ahead of the league’s expansion phase and its increasing standing as Pakistan’s premier sports product.
Lahore Qalandars, currently regarded as the PSL’s most valuable franchise and winners of three of the past four editions under Pakistan ODI captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, were among the first to commit to another decade in the league. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi welcomed the development, praising the efforts of franchise owners Atif Rana and Sameen Rana. “It gives me immense pleasure that Lahore Qalandars will continue to stay with its current owners,” he said. “They have worked extremely hard to turn this franchise into a household name across Pakistan and a reputable brand around the world.”

Peshawar Zalmi also renewed their rights, maintaining their status as one of the PSL’s most prominent and widely supported teams. Champions in 2017, Zalmi have cultivated a strong fan base both domestically and internationally, with the PCB noting that the franchise was the most-watched team in the previous PSL season. Mohsin Naqvi commended owner Javed Afridi’s “commitment, professionalism and passion,” attributing much of the team’s rise in popularity to his leadership. “Javed Afridi’s vision has contributed immensely to the growth of the HBL PSL,” Naqvi said, adding that the renewal reflected the franchise’s confidence in the league’s long-term potential.

Quetta Gladiators — one of the PSL’s founding franchises and champions in 2019 — have similarly signed on for the decade ahead. The team’s continued participation ensures that three of the league’s oldest and most recognised brands will remain central to the PSL as it enters a new phase of expansion, investment and competitiveness.
With the rights renewal process under way and plans for two additional teams progressing, the PSL is positioning itself for a significantly expanded footprint both on and off the field in the years to come.
