Rescue of Vulnerable Sambar Deer

Officials confirmed that rangers located the sambar deer during routine patrols in Gujarat. Known for its declining numbers due to habitat loss and poaching pressures, the species received immediate attention.
The deer was carefully transported to Joharabad Wildlife Park, where veterinary teams are monitoring its health — a step that boosts conservation efforts for this protected animal.

Actions Against Illegal Hunters

In Rahim Yar Khan, rangers caught three individuals in the act of hunting partridges, a regulated bird species. The suspects faced on-spot fines exceeding Rs150,000, with formal cases launched to deter similar violations.
Separately in Layyah, a raid disrupted hunting of doves and pigeons. Though two suspects escaped, authorities have filed charges and continue pursuit operations.
Punjab’s wildlife teams remain vigilant, working tirelessly to protect the province’s natural heritage and ensure a safer environment for endangered and protected species through sustained enforcement and public awareness.
