Wana — The district administrations of South Waziristan Upper and South Waziristan Lower imposed Section 144 on February 26, 2026, enforcing a 12-hour daily curfew from 6 am to 6 pm in several tehsils and key routes, citing rising security concerns and the need to facilitate smooth movement of logistics for security forces.

In South Waziristan Upper, Deputy Commissioner Asmatullah Wazir confirmed the restrictions cover Sarvekai and Sararogha tehsils. Affected routes include Makin, Sararogha, Kot Kai and Spinkai Raghzai up to Nazar Khel, as well as Dargai Bridge through Madi Jan, Sheen Warsak and Moley Khan Sarai to Chagmalai.

Residents have been instructed to stop vehicles at least 50 metres before approaching security forces and to exit if required. The deputy commissioner stressed that compliance is mandatory and violators will be held personally accountable.

In South Waziristan Lower, Deputy Commissioner Musarat Zaman announced the same 6 am–6 pm curfew in parts of Wana, prohibiting non-essential movement. Emergency travel requires prior permission from police or security forces, along with valid identification and travel documents.

Both deputy commissioners urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, cooperate fully with security personnel and remain patient during the enforcement period. Markets, shops and commercial centres will stay closed to help maintain order.

Officials described the measures as essential to support ongoing security operations, sustain peace and protect residents from threats. The curfew will remain in force until further notice, with authorities monitoring the situation closely.
