LAHORE/ISLAMABAD – October 11, 2025 – The Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) launched its protest march from Lahore on Thursday, aiming to reach Islamabad for an anti-Israel demonstration outside the US Embassy. The march quickly escalated into clashes between protesters and law enforcement at Chauburji Chowk, resulting in injuries on both sides.

According to Edhi Foundation spokesperson Younis Bhatti, several police personnel were injured and moved to hospitals. TLP claimed a few of its workers died and 22 were injured. The group attempted to dismantle police barricades to continue their march.

In response, Islamabad and Rawalpindi authorities imposed strict security measures. Over 280 TLP activists were detained, internet services suspended, and key entry points blocked with more than 500 containers. Section 144 was enforced in both cities, banning gatherings and public assemblies.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry condemned the violence, stating protest was a right but must remain peaceful. He accused TLP of bringing “violent elements” to past demonstrations, and questioned the timing, saying, “When Gaza accepts a ceasefire, why are such protests happening here?”

The US Embassy issued a security advisory to its citizens ahead of the demonstration, citing risks of traffic disruption and large gatherings.

Punjab University, other educational institutions, and the Public Service Commission suspended activities citing safety concerns.
