Ziarat Sit-In Enters Sixth Day in Quetta Over Martyrdom of Policemen

Jul 15, 2026 | Current Affairs

QUETTA— The sit-in protest against the tragic martyrdom of seven police personnel in a terrorist attack at Mangi Dam in Ziarat entered its sixth consecutive day on Tuesday at Quetta’s Koila Phatak, with families seeking solid assurances before proceeding with the burials of their loved ones.

The protest has attracted significant participation from political leaders, civil society organizations, and local residents demanding justice and decisive action against the terrorists responsible for the attack.

Deadlock in Negotiations

Despite multiple rounds of talks, negotiations between the provincial administration and the representatives of the bereaved families have yet to yield a final consensus.

Balochistan Home Minister Ziaullah Langove, who is leading the government delegation, visited the protest camp to appeal to the families to bury the martyred personnel. He stated that the provincial government has accepted most of the protesters’ primary demands, including the establishment of a judicial commission to launch an independent, high-level judicial inquiry into the security lapses surrounding the Mangi Dam assault, initiating immediate intelligence-based operations against terrorist networks in the Ziarat and Harnai districts, and provision of martyr relief packages along with educational support for the children of the martyred police officers.

Protest organizers, however, maintain that the sit-in will continue until formal executive notifications are issued and actionable steps on the ground are visible.

Province-Wide Solidarity

The protest continues to gain momentum across Balochistan. The All Parties Kech Alliance announced a peaceful solidarity rally scheduled for Wednesday in front of the Turbat Press Club to stand with the families of the martyred police personnel and protest the terrorist attack.

Community elders and political representatives emphasize that the safety of local law enforcement personnel operating in vulnerable development sites, such as the Mangi Dam reservoir, must be guaranteed.
