ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing all possible facilities to Sikh pilgrims visiting Pakistan, stressing that the country would continue to ensure their comfort, safety and access to sacred religious sites.

The prime minister made the remarks during a meeting with Jasdeep Singh, President of Sikhs of America, who called on him at the PM Office. Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar and Pakistani-American businessman Sajid Tarar were also present at the meeting, according to a statement issued by the PM Office Media Wing.

PM Shehbaz said Pakistan was home to several revered Sikh religious sites, drawing devotees from across the globe. He noted that hosting the Sikh community was “a matter of pride” for the country, which had consistently ensured the upkeep of their sacred places, including major Gurdwaras, and provided pilgrims with the necessary facilities to perform their rituals with ease.

He assured that the government planned to further expand the range of services available to Sikh pilgrims arriving from different parts of the world. “We remain committed to making their visits smoother and more fulfilling,” he said.
