After a month of “ALBM” initials haunting social media, the mystery is finally solved. The official trailer for Bilal Atif Khan’s directorial debut, Aag Lagay Basti Mein, dropped on February 9, 2026, and it’s a high-octane love letter to the chaotic energy of Karachi.
A Heist of Desperation
The trailer reintroduces the powerhouse duo of Fahad Mustafa and Mahira Khan, but not as the polished romantic leads we usually see. Barkat (Fahad) is an honest, struggling sanitation worker whose wife, Almaas (Mahira), has grown weary of their quiet survival.
In pursuit of a better life, specifically a dream trip to “Doobai,” the two turn to a life of petty crime. What starts as floor cleaners cracking a safe quickly spirals into a full-blown underworld war involving car chases, gunfights, and betrayal.
Breaking the Mold
What makes the trailer stand out is its departure from typecasting. Mahira Khan sheds her gentle persona to play a confrontational, bold character who isn’t afraid to tempt her husband into moral gray areas. Meanwhile, the film marks the cinematic debut of comedian Tabish Hashmi, who steps away from his charming talk-show persona to play a truly malicious antagonist.
Adding to the flavor is the presence of veteran actor Javed Sheikh as a crime boss and the viral meme queen Shehzaadi Samra (of the viral meme “accha jee, aisa hai kya”), who makes a scene-stealing cameo.

A Karachi Crime Caper
Produced by ARY Films and Big Bang Entertainment, the film carries the DNA of Na Maloom Afraad, which is no surprise given Bilal Atif Khan’s background as an AD to Nabeel Qureshi. With its sharp, witty dialogues and action, Aag Lagay Basti Mein is positioning itself as the “it” film for Eid-ul-Fitr 2026.
