Quetta — Balochistan’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) says its teams killed 14 suspected militants in two separate shoot-outs on Tuesday, 08 in Quetta’s Darakhshan neighbourhood and 06 in Barkhan — as security forces keep up pressure on militant hideouts across the province.
In Darakhshan, CTD personnel ran into heavy firing during an operation and returned fire, killing all eight armed men on the spot. Three CTD officers were wounded in the exchange. The dead were said to belong to a banned group; police recovered weapons and ammunition from the site.
A separate intelligence-based Operation in Barkhan ended with six militants killed. No one from the CTD side was hurt. Again, arms and ammunition were taken into possession.

Key Highlights
- 14 militants reported killed in two CTD operations.
- 8 eliminated in Quetta’s Darakhshan area; 3 CTD men injured.
- 6 killed in Barkhan; no security losses.
- Weapons and ammunition recovered at both locations.
- Suspects linked to planning attacks in the province.
- Operations part of wider counter-terror push in Balochistan.
CTD officials described the dead as people actively involved in planning disruptive actions. The department says it will keep going after terrorist networks until the threat is gone.
These two actions come right after the much bigger Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-1 wrapped up earlier this month — that one claimed 216 militants killed, 180 suspects picked up, and large hauls of arms and explosives seized. That operation itself was launched after the January 31 wave of attacks that paralysed parts of the province for days.
For people living in Quetta, Barkhan, and the surrounding districts, these operations mean one thing above everything else: security forces are still taking the fight to the militants instead of waiting for the next blast or ambush. Whether the pressure actually brings lasting calm is another question — locals have heard “clearance” announcements before — but right now the message from the CTD is clear: the hunt is still on.

Investigations into the recovered weapons, documents, and possible networks are continuing. More details are expected as questioning of any detained facilitators moves forward.
