Feb 27, 2026 | Current Affairs

In a major tactical shift during the early hours of Friday, February 27, 2026, the Pakistan Army has solidified its presence within the Paktia region of Afghanistan. Following the launch of Operation Ghazab-lil-Haqq, security forces successfully captured and occupied five key Afghan posts that were reportedly being used to facilitate cross-border aggression.

Breakdown of Captured Positions

According to official security sources and viral footage shared by state media (PTV News), the Pakistan Army has hoisted the national flag at the following locations:

  • Two posts opposite the Shawal sector (North/South Waziristan border).
  • Two posts opposite Angoor Adda (South Waziristan).
  • One post opposite Zarmalan.

Destruction of Angoor Adda Terminal

In a move to paralyze the logistics of the Afghan Taliban regime in the southern sector, Pakistani forces completely destroyed the Afghan terminal at Angoor Adda. This facility was identified as a key staging ground for militant movement and supply lines targeting Pakistani checkposts.

  • Total Posts Seized: Pakistan has now captured 7 Afghan posts in total and completely destroyed 27 others.
  • Heavy Armor Losses: More than 50 tanks, artillery guns, and Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) belonging to the Taliban have been reduced to rubble.

White Flags and Surrender

Reports and social media videos indicate that several Afghan border units have hoisted white flags (the symbol of surrender) at their remaining outposts to prevent further PAF airstrikes.

  • Retreat at Torkham: Earlier tonight, Taliban forces were filmed fleeing the Torkham border in trucks, abandoning their “suffocated” positions under intense Pakistani artillery fire.
  • Casualties on the Pakistani Side: In the latest updates, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed that while inflicting heavy losses, two Pakistani soldiers have also embraced martyrdom in the line of duty.
