Pakistan secured the U-19 Asia Cup title with a commanding 191-run victory over India in the final at the ICC Academy Ground on Sunday, producing a dominant all-round performance after entering the match as underdogs.

Batting first after losing the toss, Pakistan posted a formidable 347 for 8 in their allotted 50 overs, driven by a record-breaking innings from opener Sameer Minhas. Sameer scored 172 runs off 113 balls, the highest individual score in the history of a U-19 Asia Cup final. His innings included 17 fours and nine sixes and formed the backbone of Pakistan’s total.

After the early dismissal of Hamza Zahoor for 18, Sameer shared key partnerships with Usman Khan (35) and Ahmed Hussain (56), adding 92 runs for the second wicket and 137 for the third. Sameer reached his century in 71 balls and continued to accelerate before being dismissed in the 43rd over. Although Pakistan lost five wickets for 45 runs in the closing stages, the total remained the highest ever recorded in a U-19 Asia Cup final.

For India, Deepesh Devendran took 3 for 83, while Khilan Patel returned figures of 2 for 44.

In reply, India were bowled out for 156 in 26.2 overs, as Pakistan’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings. Pacer Ali Raza led the attack with figures of 4 for 42, while Abdul Subhan (2 for 29) and Huzaifa Ahsan (2 for 12) provided effective support.

India made a brisk start, with Vaibhav Suryavanshi scoring 26 off 10 balls, but wickets fell in quick succession once Pakistan settled. Captain Ayush Mhatre was dismissed early, and India slipped to 49 for 3 within five overs. A steady flow of wickets followed, with only brief resistance from Khilan Patel (19) and Kanishk Chouhan (9). Deepesh Devendran added late runs with a 36-run cameo, but the outcome was no longer in doubt.

The result marked a strong turnaround for Pakistan, who had lost heavily to India in the group stage of the tournament. The margin of victory was the largest in a U-19 Asia Cup final, underlining Pakistan’s dominance in the title match.

Sameer Minhas was named Player of the Match for his innings, as Pakistan celebrated a comprehensive win to lift the trophy.
